This book is the fourth installment in Anthony Bidulka's series featuring Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada's only gay P.I., Russell Quant. Bypassing the temptation to delve into formulaic fiction, Bidulka pushes the Quant character in new and interesting ways, in the process growing the character in complexity and developing an entirely new approach to crime and crime solving vis a vis the three previous novels. In this outing, Russell faces almost impossible loss made even more painful because the loss offers a glimmer of hope, only to snuff it summarily out. I love these books
I love this series. Lots of fun and surprises. Great characters.
Bidulka has a way of writing which sucks you in to the mystery and leaves you guessing up to the end. His books read quick without being fluff or simplistic. And, along with the mystery, gives you an inside look at an interesting little community.
